Mussel Rock, Pacifica, 6pm. NW @ 13mph
Lazy launch from Walker, reverse to front, two steps in upright position. Lots of lift right away, headed for cliffs. Shared the sky with four or more hang gliders and at least 8 paragliders. I didn’t feel crowded or seem to get in anyone’s way. A few 360s and some sharper-than-usual S turns (nothing at all like a wingover). Got cold. Figure 8s over the steps and a long final towards Tomcat. Gentle touchdown but lost control of wing and tipped over. GoPro ran out of batteries mid-flight.
- Did not torpedo launch, did not maximize airspeed.
- Did not properly kill wing.
