Spectator Sport

Mussel Rock, Pacifica, 11am. NW @ 12mph

Launched from Walker ramp in lift, turned left (cut it a little closer than I planned and got a mild scare and a big lift, almost had a touch and go with the top of Walker launch). (Turn may have been exaggerated by some post-takeoff pendulum?) Wiggled into harness with mild difficulty as I flew in front of Walker ridge. 5 beats and I transitioned cleanly to cliffs at 430 feet. Climbed to 630 in front of the cliffs, flew out sea and returned crossing slowly in front of the slide (lifted back up to 645). Lost height by figure 8s in front of the steps, approach was SSE with a final turn S into the WSW wind at 10′ agl. Gentle, one step landing in the Saddle, immediately transitioning to kiting. First time with a loved one watching (Hi Dad!)

Errors:

  • Sharp left immediately after launch gets me close to terrain, too soon to be maneuvering.
  • Didn’t announce launch.

0:12 Mussel Rock (Walker), reverse launch.
